Thoroughly impressed with Russell's! Birthday meal on a Friday evening, excellent selection on the menu, and drinks too. The building is lovely and staff were good. Not cheap but not silly prices and we were happy with them considering the quality of the food, lamb was lovely, steaks cooked well too. My only minor negative was I don't think strawberry and mint worked together with the hazelnut cheesecake. Also had a good sized portion of bread & butter pudding. Imo russells just needs to build up more of a presence on social media to make it more popular as nobody else I know has heard of it, I saw it on a food bloggers page.
My first visit to Russells was Christmas Day which is not an easy occasion to cater for and I sometimes think it doesn't always show a venue at its best. However, everyone at Russells rose to the challenge and did a wonderful job. The food was fantastic, very tasty and just perfect for Christmas Day lunch, and the staff worked hard with a smile on their faces. Thank you, I will definitely be back
Excellent in every respect. Barry was a great host and made us feel very welcome. After living in Chelmsford for 25 years, we hadn't been here before and now very pleased to have found an independent restaurant that offers a great experience. Food was very good as was the service and the value for money with a great menu. Highly recommended!
I had an amazing time at Russells Restaurant. The Mushroom Wellington was cooked to perfection and the flavours of the meal were incredible. As for the Chocolate Brownie I've never tasted anything so delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive making for a wonderful experience. I will definitely return and would highly recommend Russells Restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic meal
A real gem in a quiet area, food was truly excellent. We had the pork belly and everything was done in a classic way but with a twist. Staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable. We all agreed we would return and try different dishes as everything looked great!
